Self-Care Is Still Important – Breaks Can Help

It has been shown repeatedly that when we take time out to rest and relax, we’re more engaged and productive. However, it can be challenging to take a break when we have one meeting after the other. Often, it seems that supervisors and coworkers think they can add more meetings to our calendars because we’re working at home (and obviously, we have nothing else to do). Not to mention that when we get into a flow of work, it’s easy to want to get just one more thing done. However, skipping breaks can cause us to tire faster and makes it difficult to focus. This article explains the importance of taking breaks and discusses some of the benefits of doing so.

What’s more pertinent is that taking breaks can be critical to your self-care, particularly if you are a caregiver. This article explains that to be a good caregiver, you must first take good care of yourself. The author comments that “while caring for those you love is important, and can be meaningful, caregiving is stressful work.” In addition to discussing how caregiving can affect us negatively, the article also offers self-care tips to improve your physical and emotional well-being.

We’re curious. How are you practicing self-care? Please take a minute to let us know.
