Unions 101 for Librarians and Library Workers

The benefits of unionization are realized by the 24 percent of librarians and 18.4 percent of library technicians who are union members. Unions bring together the collective strength of workers to ensure meaningful negotiations with management for an equitable contract. Negotiations are not limited to wages and salaries, but can also include staffing and overtime, safety and health, provisions for continuing education, adequate pensions, vacations, equitable promotion systems and transfer policies and a workable grievance system.

Join the ALA-Allied Professional Association Sunday, June 30, 3-4pm, in room S103bc of the McCormick Place Convention Center during the ALA Annual Conference for this session as they explore unions in libraries.
