Nicola McDonald began her career as a Library Page. She fell in love with providing impactful services to library communities and decided to pursue librarianship. With over 20 years of experience working in a variety of library roles and settings, Nicola has honed many valuable skill sets including working in direct public service and administration. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor and a Career & Life Coach helping people to find success and thrive in their career and lives.
She has written articles, delivered presentations, and offered staff training on a variety of topics, including successful leadership strategies, building community partnerships, and team development, among others.
A past ALA Emerging Leader, Nicola has served in various roles including most recently NYLA Leadership & Management Section President and ALA Committee on Diversity committee member. Nicola earned a MS-LIS from Drexel University, a MFA from The City College of New York and a BS in Psychology from Mercy College. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
