Star Archives: KS

is a Star because he is always looking for new ways to server the libraries of the SEKLS regional library system. He promotes professionalism among the librarians of this 15-county region by encouraging his staff to bring them the training and information they need to operate their libraries more efficiently. A few years ago he lead a make-over project that used one of the system libraries as an example. By using space more efficiently, adding a few new items for the Wow! factor and a bit of paint, the library went from ho-hum to a focal point of the community. This make-over inspired other system libraries to do their own make-overs with SEKLS grant money. Before the dust had even settled on that project, he began implementing a system-wide automation project that allows even the smallest community to have an integrated library system. His next project was to promote the state-wide library courier system. Roger never rests. He constantly advocates for libraries at the local and state level and he is always looking for ways to improve the lives of the librarians and libraries he serves. is a Star because Brenda finds almost every book that is put "on search" request by patron in a very short time. She goes all over the library possible locations, search high and low even possible wrong call number location (O vs. Q; PL vs. DL), overflows, oversized/folios, marking, temp. storage, etc. to locate an item on search. Brenda is the "Stack Fairy" as commented by our faculties and students. She makes patrons happy daily. She makes the library operation work though she never works directly with public. Her contribuition is huge for these many decades she has worked in our Libraries. She literally walks extra mails to help library patrons every day. Thanks to Vickie for this nomination.
