Thinking Job Search? Think Strategy

By Caitlin Williams

Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in the ALA 2018 Annual Conference in New Orleans.  It was a great experience. One of the things I get to do during the ALA conferences is career coaching for people who stop by the on-site ALA JobLIST Placement and Career Development Center. In my discussions, I noticed a theme that came up frequently: “How do I do my job search, where do I begin, or where do I go from here?  I want to make sure I’m going to get a position and I’m struggling a bit with it.”  I heard these types of questions often enough that I thought it would be a good idea to focus on them in this month’s podcast. There are eight ideas I’d like to share. You may be doing some of the activities already, and if so, that’s great.  If you aren’t, then you may want to incorporate them. If you’re going strong with your search, then perhaps there’s an idea or two that will still be useful to you.
