What’s New in Library Worklife

By Beatrice Calvin

This month we will be kicking-off an exciting new series focused on giving you the latest information, support and ideas for advancing your career and expanding your options within the Library and Information Science field.

Starting today and for each month over the coming year, we’ll be bringing you interviews, podcasts, articles and more – with the help of our career consultant, Dr. Caitlin Williams.  Caitlin has been partnering with the ALA Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR) to develop career initiatives and presentations for the past 17 years.  Many of you may know Caitlin from ALA’s Midwinter and Annual conferences where she offers career coaching to our members and conference attendees as part of ALA’s JobLIST Placement & Career Development Center activities (and she’s been doing so for almost two decades now).

We’re excited about this new feature that will be highlighted in the SPOTLIGHT section of the newsletter—and we think you will be, too.  So, please feel free to visit the online Library Worklife Newsletter on the second Tuesday of every month to see the latest information that we will be sharing.  We value your membership and your time as you read each issue of Library Worklife. We want to offer all we can to help you succeed in your chosen field.

If there is a specific career-related topic or issue you would like to see addressed, please email your ideas to libraryworklife@ala.org. We’ll do our best to address your request.

Take a look at the SPOTLIGHT section of the newsletter now to learn more from Caitlin about some of the topics we’ll be covering in the months ahead. We’re excited about Caitlin’s contributions to Library Worklife.
