Make Plans Now for Equal Pay Day and National Library Worker’s Day – Both on April 12th

This year, Equal Pay Day will be observed on Tuesday, April 12th. It is the day that symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. The National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) offers suggestions for businesses as well as individuals.  In addition, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has developed a list of 6 Easy Ideas for Marking Equal Pay Day 2016. You can review the April 2015 issue of Library Worklife for more resources.

April 12, 2016 is also National Library Worker’s Day (NLWD).  This day, which was established by the American Library Association’s Allied Professional Association’s (ALA-APA), was designed as an opportunity to recognize all library workers, including librarians, support staff and others who make library service possible every day. Visit the ALA-APA NLWD page to submit names of stars, get celebration ideas and other resources.
