Health-minded members have weighed in: a Think Fit @ ALA focus unveils at Midwinter Conference 2012 in Dallas

Think Fit @ ALA promotes sessions, programs, and events following its healthy, well-being initiative. This includes both personal health as well as environmental awareness. Events and sessions promoting personal or environmental health will be noted with the Think Fit @ ALA icon.

Think Fit @ ALA is headlined by the Fun Run 5K & Walk Saturday, January 21 at Reverchon Park. Fun Run returns after an eight year hiatus to promote activity, outside of running from meeting room to meeting room. Dallas’ Convention Center recycling program will also be noted as it promotes waste reduction and efficiency.

This is not the first time ALA has promoted health and fitness. Loriene Roy, ALA President 2007-2008, appointed a Workplace Wellness Task Force to produce tangible expressions that promote healthy workplaces and lifestyles among library workers. One result of the task force’s efforts was a Wellness Pavilion at the 2008 ALA Annual Conference. It consisted of a workplace wellness fair which offered a variety of activities promoting wellness including yoga, pilates, health poster sessions and cooking demo from Anaheim White House Chef Bruno Serato.

Look for the Think Fit @ ALA icon throughout the conference, on programs, on the conference website at www.alamidwinter.org, and all Midwinter promotions.
