Applying For Your Certification
When you have completed your work on six competency sets (including the three required) either through approved courses or by completing a portfolio, you are ready to apply for your certification. Remember that you have four years from the time you were accepted to the program to achieve six competency sets.
Your application for certification should include:
- Your acceptance into the program
- Your Certificates of Course Completion if you completed approved courses
- Your Certificates of Portfolio Completion if you submitted portfolios along the way.
You do not need to submit your portfolio documentation in your application for certification, only your Certification of Portfolio Completion.
LSSC will review that your documentation is complete and grant you the designation of Certified Library Support Staff (CLSS). You will receive a certificate that states that you are certified for the next four years. You will need to renew your certification after four years.
